Baby its hot outside!

Yesterday it was 68 degrees here. Broke all sorts of records. I took the opportunity to do some yard work, clean up some of the mess left by the past storms. I also took the time to walk up the road and take a look at some of the storm damage from the storm on December 1st. There is a swath of trees snapped off about 15 to 20 above ground level. They are basically twisted off. The swath is about 100 feet wide and if you piece all the swathes together, it makes a dashed line through the woods about 1 1/2 miles long. This passes by our house about 1/2 mile to the east. I am quite sure that the damage was caused by a tornado intermittently touching down. Luckily enough it seems that in this area, it only effected the trees, not any houses. Further down the road in Ellenville, NY, a man was killed when a tree fell on his home.

We sure have had some strange weather lately. Not that I am complaining about the warm winter, our fuel oil usage is way down, which is good. Yesterday the family went to the local play ground for a few hours and we all had fun. I just don’t want any tornado or floods or anything.

Around the house, things have been quite. We had a good holiday, young William is really growing fast, and everyone is healthy.

This is a picture of him sleeping through New Year’s Eve diner at my mother in law’s house. He looks rather regal, with the hand resting on the arm of the chair and all.

I got some good gifts, a book about carpentry , a book about photovoltaic (electric solar panels) installation, and some fiction and non-fiction recreational reading. I also installed a new light in the dining room, replacing the bare bulb that was hanging from wires in the dining room.

I am looking forward to spring so I can get some more cool projects underway.
